Network Rail Announce Work Will Last 9 Months

A new posting to the Network Rail website has announced that the work on the bridge will in fact last 9 months rather than the 6 months local residents were previously told about. I really don’t see how local businesses will survive this. The closure is happening this weekend and I’ve never seen such fear or anger in the local community.

Future works April 29 2013 – July 2013

Alternate lane closures will be required for approximately 3 months to allow utility companies to reconnect services beneath the road and pavement.

Unbelievably the announcement also includes the following line:

We have consulted the local residents and businesses and are reviewing the traffic diversions for this period.

I can’t imagine a more incompetent communication plan, and in 14 years of consulting I’ve seen quite a few poorly handled projects.
