Bridge Closure Destroys Local Farmers Market

Very sadly the Streatham Vale Farmers Market recently established in The Railway public house will not happen for the foreseeable future due to the bridge closure. This is terrible news, the market was just getting going.

Hello all,

Since the beginning of September, I have been looking at ways to bring the Farmers’ Market back to Streatham Vale.
Whilst Granton Primary School was a great space, I have always wanted to have the Farmers’ Market in a more prominent place and attract more people.
It has recently been announced that the bridge at Greyhound Lane over Streatham Common station is to be closed for 6 months between November and April which makes it impossible now to continue the market for the foreseeable future.

It will also have a devastating effect on other small businesses in the area.
A public meeting was called to discuss the closure of this vital access to Streatham Vale on Thursday 4th October at Granton Primary School. Network Rail and Lambeth Council explained that the works are still going ahead and disruption will be kept to a minimum.

I hope to be able to bring back the market in the Summer of 2013. Watch this space.
Kind regards,

Richard
